These terms govern your use of LawDB.ca ("LawDB," "we," "us"), a directory of Canadian law firms. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What LawDB is
LawDB is an independent online directory. We are not a law firm, we do not give legal advice, and we do not refer you to a lawyer on any basis other than listing. Nothing on this site creates a lawyer-client relationship, and the guides on this site are general information only, not advice about your situation.
Listings and information
Firm details such as name, address, phone, rating and review count come from Google's public business listings and, for some firms, the firm's own website. This information can be out of date or wrong. Ratings and reviews belong to their original sources and are not our opinion. Appearing on LawDB is not an endorsement of any firm, and we do not verify any firm's qualifications, licensing or results. Please check a lawyer's standing with their provincial law society before you hire them.
Using the site
You may use LawDB for lawful, personal or business purposes. You agree not to scrape or copy the directory in bulk, interfere with the site, submit false or abusive messages, or use the site to send unsolicited commercial messages.
Consultation requests
When you send a message through a firm's page, you agree that we may share it with that firm so they can respond. We do not guarantee that a firm will reply, accept your matter, or reply within any time. Do not send confidential or time-sensitive information through the form, and do not rely on it to meet a deadline such as a limitation period.
Law firms: listings and Featured plans
- A Basic listing is free. We may update or remove a listing at any time, and will correct details on request.
- Featured plans are billed monthly through Stripe at the price shown when you subscribe, plus applicable taxes, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- Each firm can start one free month of Featured from its dashboard, without giving payment details. It ends automatically after 30 days and the listing returns to Basic unless you subscribe; you are not charged for the free month. We may offer or withdraw free months at any time.
- You can cancel at any time under our Refund Policy, which also explains what is refundable.
- The analytics a Featured firm sees are counts of visits and clicks on its own page. They are provided as they are and are not a guarantee of results; the way they are collected is explained in our Privacy Policy.
- You confirm you are authorised to act for the firm and that what you give us is accurate. Your advertising must follow your law society's rules, and you are responsible for that.
- We do not guarantee any level of traffic, enquiries or clients.
Terms for firms with an account
These apply when you create an account to claim, add or manage a firm on LawDB.
- Authority. You may only manage a firm you are authorised to act for. We may approve, refuse, suspend or remove anyone's access, and edit or remove any listing, at any time and without having to give a reason. Giving false information to obtain access is a breach of these terms.
- What you publish. You are responsible for what you enter. It must be accurate and must follow your law society's advertising rules. Do not make misleading, comparative or guaranteed claims (for example "best", "#1", "guaranteed results") or claim a specialist title you are not entitled to. Do not add web links or promotional spam to descriptions. Pictures you upload (a logo, cover or photos) must be yours or used with permission, and must not show clients or other people without their consent. You give us permission to display what you enter and upload on LawDB, and you can change or remove it at any time.
- Enquiries. Enquiries you receive through LawDB are for responding to the person who sent them. Do not sell them or pass them to others, and do not add the person to marketing lists unless they ask for that. Handle them as you must handle any client information under your professional and privacy obligations.
- Your account. Sign-in links go to your email address, so keep that email account secure and do not share links. Tell us at once if you think your access has been misused. You can end all sessions at any time with "Sign out everywhere".
- Your blog. If your website has a public blog feed, LawDB may show the headlines, dates and short excerpts of your latest posts on your listing and on LawDB News as small cards, each linking to the full article on your website. The articles remain yours and we never publish them in full. You can switch the cards off at any time from your dashboard, or ask us to.
- Checks. We keep a record of changes to listings, may review them, and may reverse a change that breaks these terms.
Intellectual property
The LawDB name, design and original content belong to us. Firm names and logos belong to their owners and appear for identification only, and LawDB is not affiliated with any listed firm. If you are a firm owner and want something changed or removed, email us and we will deal with it promptly.
Disclaimer and limit of liability
The site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, LawDB is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from dealings with any listed firm. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.

The site links to firm websites, Google Maps and other third parties. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.
